There are a few important things to keep in mind when choosing an urn or memorial glass piece. During grief, it can be difficult to think clearly, even about considerations that would normally feel simple. At Eternal Repose, we want to make this already difficult time as easy as possible for you.

First, consider if this will be kept in a place that is visible or if it will buried / entombed. If it will be buried or entombed, an urn from Eternal Repose will cost considerably less than a coffin. As a glass company operating in Canada our costs are higher than those of others, and this is reflected in our prices.

Additionally some families choose to house loved ones remains in a Columbarium. These Cemetary nooks are a standard size, 12x12x12, there are exceptions to these measurement; double check with your cemetary to ensure that the urn you select will fit. Our Urns with are under 12 inches tall (including the lid).

Next, keep size in mind. All of our funeral urns have a volume capacity of 14 cups. Unfortunately, many families purchase urns online that are not large enough to hold all of the ashes, which adds unnecessary distress.

It is important to choose an urn that reminds you of the person for whom you are purchasing it. We are confident that you will find an urn worthy of your loved one at Eternal Repose. In addition, we strongly recommend avoiding mass-produced pieces, you are memorializing a unique person in your life.

We acknowledge that families sometimes need to divide cremated remains between loved ones. For this reason, we created a line of smaller urns. Originally, we designed these urns for siblings who each wanted to keep a small portion of their parents’ remains. Over time, other families have also chosen to go with this option. Each keepsake urn has a volume capacity of 4 cups. Above all, these smaller urns offer a beautiful way to keep a loved one close.

Finally, memorial glass pieces can offer another meaningful option. We incorporate a loved one’s ashes into a solid glass artworks or jewelry. We recommend solid forms rather than hollow pieces such as vases. Thick glass is extremely durable, when solid (not blown, and hence thicker still), becomes even more robust. Memorial glass pieces require two months lead time.

Options include, a pair of urns in different colours, or double urn (a single urn large enough to hold the remains of two). We create these as custom pieces; contact us for more information.
